There has certainly been a recent and great renaissance of both the original Land Rover Defender style 4 x 4 and the more comfortable Range Rover. The latter soon became an icon in its own right, having the excellent V8 Buick inspired engine and long travel suspension, which made it an excellent off road vehicle but also one capable of consuming vast distances in a relaxed fashion from an elevated driving position which added to the pleasurable driving experience.First registered on the 1st of January 1982, this early four door example with just 61044 miles on the clock underwent a full refurbishment in 2020/21, and finished in the original Shetland Beige. The interior remains original with the correct ?teddy bear? seats and centre cubby box. The dashboard is excellent and although an aerial is present, a radio unit has never been fitted. New Goodyear Wrangler tyres have been fitted to the original wheels after powder coating. Recently, a tow bar and electrics have been fitted but not yet used. Mechanically, we are told that it is in excellent order and drives well, powered by the original V8 engine and running gear. There are no known faults. In 2021 and 2022, the Range Rover passed its MOTs with no advisories; the vendor tells us that the chassis and cross members are solid with no welding, and the sills and inner wings are good as well. As a 1982 vehicle, it is now exempt for both road tax and MOT tests. It is a reluctant sale - the vendor is reducing the size of his collection to enable a new project. The Range Rover is supplied with its original driver's handbook, 24 old MOT test certificates, old tax discs, a 2009 sales letter, a servicing invoice from 2021 and the V5C registration certificate.
